Regional round of Technovation Challenge for school girls was held in Astana, May 12.
Technovation Challenge takes place annually in San-Francisco. The mission of Technovation is to inspire and educate girls and women to solve the real problems of society through information technology, in particular through the development of mobile applications.
The competition can involve teams of five schoolgirls, one mentor and one coach. They are provided with a developed curriculum for 12 weeks, during which the schoolgirls together with the mentors develop the application, conduct marketing research, write a business plan, shoot videos and so on.
31 teams from Astana, Aktobe, Atyrau, Karaganda, Pavlodar, Kokshetau, Oskemen, Temirtau, Petropavlovsk, Kostanay and Semey took part in the regional stage of the contest in Astana.
Below are the results of this year:
- 1st place — CodeUp team with project FireShield, service for warning of the beginning of smoke or ignition indoors;
- 2nd place — kz1217 team with project Hend, mobile application for the unification of volunteers and organizations;
- 3rd place — hedgehogs team with project inTouch, anonymous service for communication of students with a psychologist;
- 4th place — High Heels team with project abayla, service for finding lost children with QR codes.
Now the teams will participate in the worldwide competition (online) and, in case of getting into the list of finalists, will go to the international final in San Francisco. We wish good luck to the teams, and in the following publications we will tell you more about each winning team.
